CAS(E) This Sketch #136

Hello stampers!

This is a card that I like to think of as a little something old and a little something new.  The old part is the  bit of Midnight Muse card stock that I added to the top of the card.  I loved that color and the envelope that holds all of what I have left is always next to my desk just in case I need this exact shade of blue!  The something new are these fabulous new dies from Stampin' Up!'s 2015 Holiday Catalog!

I have created this card for the CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge.   You can click on the picture below to go to the challenge blog and check it out.

Here is a close up of the top portion of the card. To create the snow on the Garden Green card stock, I first sponged on some Whisper White craft ink.  Then I used my glue pen and some Dazzling Diamonds to add the glittery edge.  I made a bit of a boo boo when trimming the ends of my paper - lesson learned on that one!

Stampin' Up! 2015 Holiday Catalog Items (Available Sept. 1st, 2015):
Jingle All the Way Stamp Set (Available in a bundle for 15% off)
Sleigh Ride Edgelits Dies (Available in a bundle for 15% off)

Just Us Girls Challenge #306

Hi Stampers!

Today I have a card to share with you that I entered into the Just Us Girls Challenge for this week.  It was a color challenge and I couldn't resist trying out some new stamps and dies.  The new Delicate Ornament Thinlits dies are so cool.  I pre-ordered the new Precision Plate for the Big Shot and it makes it super easy to cut out these intricate designs. No more wax paper for this girl!

The color challenge was to use black, red, and gray so I went with Basic Black, Real Red, and Smoky Slate as my color combo.

If you click on this image it will take you to the Just Us Girls Challenge blog where you can check out all of the fun inspiration for this color combo!
Here is a close up of the ornament.  Can you see all of the fun new products used?

Color Throwdown #355

Hi Stampers!

I'm using more new product today for the Color Throwdown challenge.  I think I buy a snowflake set every single year.  I just LOVE snowflakes!  (Too bad I hate real snow.)  Here's the color combo for this week's Color Throwdown.  If you want to play along, just click on the image below to go to their blog.

I went with Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, and Smokey Slate as my colors for this throw down.  I thought they were perfect for a snowflake card!

It might be difficult to see in the picture, but for the turquoise snowflakes, I added some sparkle with Iridescent Ice Stampin' emboss powder.  This is really easy to do with photopolymer stamps.  First I stamped the snowflakes with the Tempting Turquoise ink.  After the ink has dried, I stamp again with Versamark and then heat emboss with the embossing powder.  It's really easy to line up the images because of the see through photopolymer stamps.

I also added some of the fun new bling from the catalog to certain snowflakes for some extra sparkle! These are the Winter Wonderland Embellishments.  Do you also see the two new punches I used on this card?

Hope that you have enjoyed my card today.  Tell me what products from the new catalog you are most excited about in the comments!

Sneak Peek Products Used (Available Sept. 1st, 2015):
Winter Wonderland Embellishments
Snow Flurry Punch (will be available in a bundle)
Flurry of Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set (will be available in a bundle)
Curvy Corner Trio Punch

Freshly Made Sketches #199

Hi Stampers!

Today I have a sneak peek at a bunch of products from the brand new Stampin' Up! 2015 Holiday Catalog!  I love being able to pre-order the holiday products so that I can get a head start on all of my holiday crafting.

I took some inspiration from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge blog.  Here's the sketch that they posted for this week.

Here's my take on the sketch.  I wanted to use a bunch of the new Halloween themed products from Stampin' Up!  I used the new Witches' Night stamp set.  It's photopolymer set that coordinates with a brand new home decor project kit, but it is also a great stand alone set for Halloween cards.  Look at how big the stamp is!  It's a perfect focal point for a card.  I used it alone on a piece of Tangelo Twist card stock here, but it coordinates with the Lots of Labels framelits from the annual catalog.  Do you also see the new Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper?  It's really cute!

I repeated the same washi tape flags on the inside of the card for more interest.  This is the new Happy Haunting Designer Washi Tape.  You know I love washi!  There is also a third roll of tape which is Tangelo Twist with little white stars on it.

Hope you enjoyed some of my sneak peeks at the new catalog today!  If you need some inspiration, make sure you check out the Freshly Made Sketches blog by clicking on the sketch above.

Sneak Peek Items (available Sept. 1st, 2015):

Eat Cake!

Hi Stampers!

Today I'm sharing the birthday card that I made for my momma!   At the beginning of the month I went to the Stampin' Up! catalog premier.  It was a fun night, and I received a new stamp set for attending.  I couldn't resist using it to create a fun birthday card.

Isn't the tag really cute?  I also added on some hardwear to draw attention to the most important part of the card - the slice of cake!  Yum!  I stamped the cake on a separate sheet of cardstock, colored it with markers, and then fussy cut it out.  The slice is popped up on a dimensional to give more of a 3D look to the tag.  I paired it up with some fun and festive patterned paper designed by Kelly Purkey.

Check out my pre-order!

Hi Stampers!

Want to see all of the goodies I pre-ordered from the Occasions 2015 and Sale-A-Bration catalogs?  Check out the two videos I have posted of me opening my order.  I will warn you that I have no idea what I'm doing when I'm filming videos and I have zero editing skills.  I'll stick to stamping instead of becoming a filmmaker.

Enjoy!  Tell me in the comments what new products you are most excited about!

Stretch Your Stamps 2 Online Class Card

Hi Stampers!

How has your week been?  I've been busy, busy, busy!  I'm waiting for my Holiday catalog pre-order to arrive!  It won't be delivered until Monday.  Wah!  In the mean time, I have been playing with a lot of the sneak peek stamp sets I already have and will be posting some samples for you soon.

Today's card was inspired by what I learned on Day 1 of the Stretch Your Stamps 2 class over at Online Card Classes.  The first lesson was all about ways to use your background stamps.  I'll be honest, I don't have many background stamps - only 2 in fact!  Today I'm showing you what I did with the Positively Chevron background stamp.

I took the background stamp and inked up different areas of it with four different shades of pink/magenta.  I always ink with the lightest color first!  Then  lightly sprayed the stamp with some water using my spritzer.  I layed the piece of watercolor paper down on top of the stamp and pressed firmly to transfer the color.  I like the effect that it has and also that there are areas where the color didn't transfer so well.  I think it makes it look very unique.

I took the stamped water color paper and trimmed off a piece about 1.75" inches wide to adhere to the card front.

Then I used the Bitty Butterfly punch to punch out several different butterflies.  I added them to the card with the darkest ones on bottom and getting gradually lighter as we move up.  By only putting adhesive in the middle you can bend up the wings to give them more dimension.

Here's a close up of the watercolor strip.  I just love how splotchy the spritzed ink looks!

Do you see the "believe" sentiment?  Does that look new to you?  Well that's because it is!  It's from and upcoming stamp set called Good Greetings.  That set will be a hostess special so stay tuned for news on it!  (You will me using it on a TON of cards because it has sooooo many great sentiments and I love the font.)  Then I highlighted the sentiment with a strip of rhinestones to finish the card off.

I hope you like the card.  I always love your comments!
