Flurry of Wishes Shaker Card

It's never too early to get a start on your holiday cards.  Today I have a fun, interactive card to share with you.  It will have you thinking cool thoughts during these hot, humid days.

Shaker cards are so much fun and they are super easy to make.  Everyone who receives a shaker card is immediately WOW'd by it!  They will think that you spent hours making the card, but the truth is that you can create this card in under an hour.  Just let everyone think you spent hours making it.

I love using the thick Whisper White card stock for a nice, clean card base.  It makes the Dapper Denim on this card pop.

Inside of the shaker portion of the card, I stamped the snowflakes in Smoky Slate.  If you wanted a more subtle effect, you could stamp them off first before making your final stamped image.  That would make a very light shade of Smoky Slate and will bring even more attention to your sentiment.

To create the "confetti" for inside of the shaker, I used the star confetti punch and some silver glimmer paper.  The stars are the perfect size for a shaker card, and the glimmer paper adds sparkle!  Then I quickly added another sentiment and some additional snowflakes to decorate the interior of the card.

TIP : Do your interior stamping first.  That way if you make a mistake, you can just stamp an new card base rather than having to take the shaker element off and transferring it to a new card.

Seasonally Scattered Shaker Card

Hi Stampers!

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far!  We are having a barbeque with some friends this afternoon.  Hamburgers and hot dogs, cold beer, corn on the cob, good friends and the pool!  It's going to be a great summer afternoon.

Today I'm going to share with you a card that I sent my cousin and her husband for the wedding anniversary.  This card features the Seasonally Scattered stamp set which will be available in the Holiday catalog on August 28th. When I first saw this set, I kept thinking about embossing the images on window sheets.  I'm serious.  I was thinking about it constantly!  So....I had to try it out.

The first attempt was a mess.  Mostly because I am a clumsy girl who stamped the image perfectly in Versamark and then proceeded to drop the stamp back down over top of the first perfectly stamped image.  Sigh.  Luckily, my second attempt was much better and the only casualty was a small piece of window sheet.

After embossing the stamp in Pool Party embossing powder, I thought to myself that this would make an awesome shaker card!  Plus I have so many fabulous new sequins that are just waiting to be used.  The In Color sequin pack is a great deal - there are sooooo many sequins in that little package - it will last you a really, really long time!

Here is a photo of the card laying down after I shook around the sequins inside!  Want to know how I made the space for the sequins to fit?  Did you ever use up all of the Dimensionals on a sheet?  You basically have a border remaining on the paper backing.  Normally I chop these borders up so I have very small Dimensionals to use on very small or intricate pieces of cardstock.  For this, I cut them into long strips and made a Dimensional frame on the back of the window sheet.  Then I cut a frame out of Strawberry Slush cardstock to hide the Dimensionals.

To finish it off I added in some Pistachio Pudding bakers twine.

And of course, I stamped the interior of the card.  This is from the Perfect Couple stamp set (retired) from the 2014 Occasions catalog.  I just think it's so cute!

Thanks for checking out my blog today!  I love questions and feedback in the comments!
