Sneak Peeks!!! On Stage Local: Display Projects Part 1

Today I have some fun photos for you to browse through.  At the On Stage Local even I attended in November there were a ton of samples created by fellow demostrators who had applied and were accepted as Display Stampers.  It's amazing all of the talent my fellow demos have.  Check out the images below for samples created with stamps and supplies from the upcoming 2017 Occasions Catalog!

(Disclaimer: These are not my own creations.  They were made by very talented demonstrators, but there were no names attached to the projects.  If you are the creator of one of these projects, let me know in the comments and I'll be happy to update this post!)

An Unexpected Result

There are days when I sit down in my craft room and I have this great idea in my head.  I pull out all of the supplies I know I'm going to use and I settle in to stamping.  Then halfway through the project I hit a huge road block.  The idea in my head just doesn't translate to the project sitting in front of me.  Does this ever happen to you?

For this card, I got the card base, Basic Black and DSP layers down and then....nothing.  The idea for the focal point of the card just wasn't working.  Sometimes when this happens, I find that the best thing to do is walk away.  Sure, I could get frustrated.  Maybe I could get some short term satisfaction over ripping the card to shreds in a mini temper tantrum, but later I would regret that decision.

I like to let things marinate.

By giving my brain some time to process the idea, I came to the realization that the direction I was taking the card in was wrong.  So instead, I went back to my clean and simple style of stamping.  I pulled out the Stitched with Cheer stamp set because I knew that the images would coordinate beautifully with the DSP I had chosen.  This card is just so easy to make, and I absolutely love the end result: classy and simple!  Some two step stamping, and overlapping the "Holly" in the sentiment with the actual holly image gave me the design harmony I was craving!

Freshly Made Sketches 266

Last night I felt like stamping and I wasn't having any luck coming up with an idea on my own.  Thankfully I always have some awesome challenge blogs saved to my favorites for instant inspiration!  Today I'm showing off the card I made using this week's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

I was itching to make a card with the Festive Season stamp set and the Festive Stitching Thinlits Dies.  I'm really excited with how this card came out. I think that the sewing really adds a nice effect to the card.  I added on some extra shimmer and shine with Gold Wink of Stella and Metallic Enamel Shapes.

On Stage Swap #1

Hi everyone!

Today I am sharing with you one of the swaps I made for On Stage Local.  I made a clean and simple card front using the Acorny Thank You stamp set paired with the Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I used the "Dropping In to Say Hi" sentiment because, even though I have acorns on the front, I didn't want the card to be overly Autumnal in theme.

To add some interest to the acorns, I did some heat embossing.  The new Copper Stampin' Emboss powder is one of my favorite things.  I use it all of the time.  It's such a refreshing new metallic shade to use.  The coordinating punch lets you cut out the acorns super fast and easy.  No fussy cutting and no need to lug out the Big Shot!

There are some amazing deals!  Go check out what's on sale this month with Stampin' Up!
