May Paper Pumpkin Part 1

Hi Stampers!

I am a little behind on my My Paper Pumpkin posts.  Sorry about that, I have really been trying my best to play catch up on all Stampin' Up related items.  This week I'm going to give you a double dose of My Paper Pumpkin!  The May PP kit was aimed at easy scrapbooking.  You were given all of the supplies needed to create an adorable brag book.  As you probably can tell from my blog, I am not a scrapbooker.  I get overwhelmed with the choices and forget about creating a 12x12 layout - ack!  That's why I love cardmaking so much...it's a much smaller canvas!

The Paper Pumpkin kit made creating this brag book a snap!  I wanted to share all of the layouts with you, so I'm going to split this project into two posts.

First up - the cover.  I decided that a brag book is definitely something you love showing off to people.  Therefore, I took photos from something I really loved for it....my Hawaiian honeymoon!  Hawaii is my favorite place on Earth!

See that cook film strip border?  That was a sticker included with the kit.  In fact, all of the elements on the page are stickers from the kit!  See? I told ya it was easy.
The first 2 page layout.  I added in some Basic Black cardstock to mat the turtle photo.  I also used my Basic Black Stampin' Write marker for journaling.

The second two page layout - I became a little more adventurous with the elements on my pages.  Adding in the little strip of patterned paper to the pages was a great way to use up some of the scraps.

The third 2 page layout.  I used the ABC-123 Outline Alphabet and Numbers stamp set to spell out "KONA" in the lower left corner.  The other stamp "The Good Life" came with the Paper Pumpkin.  That stamp is great for scrapbookers or those of you who create Project Life books.

Look at me....a self proclaimed non-scrapbooker who is scrapbooking!  My Paper Pumpkin made it so easy!  Everything was coordinated and ready for me to use.

Do you want to get a monthly papercrafting surprise in your mailbox?  Then join My Paper Pumpkin!  If you sign up with me as your demonstrator before August 31st, you can get your first two months for only $10 per month (shipping included)!

Enter in the code: PUMPKINDEAL

After the first two months, the subscription price goes up to $19.95 per month (shipping included).  Email me if you have any questions about My Paper Pumpkin, or any Stampin' Up! products!

Secret Garden in Calypso Coral

Hi Stampers!

Today I'm sharing a card that I made as a special order for a customer.  She wanted a card that was bright and flowery.  Do you think I captured the type of card that she wanted?

I used some retired Pear Pizzazz 1/2" seam binding to create the nice fluffy bow.  I love the seam binding because it is easy to work with and it's not bulky - great for mailables!

I dressed up the interior and the envelope with a little bit of stamping.  Just a little stamping goes a long way!  It's not difficult at all to take your card from simple to simply WOW!

Stampin' Supplies:
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Calypso Coral, Gumball Green Print Poetry DSP (retired)
Stamps: Secret Garden
Ink: Calypso Coral, Gumball Green
Other: Pear Pizzazz 1/2" Seam Binding (retired)

June 2013 In Color Club Card Sample

Hi Stampers!

Today I'd like to share with you the card sample I made for my June In Color club members.  Every month when I bundle up the In Color packets, I love including a little card as my thank you to those who participated for the month.  It's also a fantastic way to showcase that month's color!

The color for June was Baked Brown Sugar!  This is a great neutral color.  I think it falls somewhere between Crumb Cake and Soft Suede.  Combine all three of those colors and you have a fantastic monochrome color palette for a masculine card.  Anyway, I'm getting off topic here!

For this sample, I used the triple time stamping technique in a different way.  I made a banner shape rather than just a rectangle.  The Swallowtail stamp is such a nice image to use for this technique.  I layered the image with some Very Vanilla card stock.  I sponged the edges and made some custom embellishments with the new clay and molds from Stampin' Up!

I made some cards with two flowers and some cards with just the one largest flower.  I think both look really pretty!

Stampin' Supplies:
Card Stock: Whisper White notecards, Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Baked Brown Sugar
Stamps: Swallowtail
Ink: Baked Brown Sugar Stampin' Pad and Refill
Other: Simply Pressed Clay, Simply Pressed Molds, Sponge Dauber

Stampin' Tip: If you find that your adhesive of choice is not working for the clay flowers, try just a little dab of Crystal Effects!  Make sure you allow it time to dry.

In Color Club Bookmarks

Hi Stampers!

Just a quick post today!  Every year when the new annual catalog is released, I hold an In Color Club for my customers.  This is basically a very large product share.  For $25 a month every member gets a little bit of each consumable In Color product - ink, card stock, ribbons, embellishments, etc.  I throw in my own little perks as well, including a color chart in the first month and a card sample featuring that month's color.  This year I took my color chart idea from the Qbee's Quest blog.

I went to Staples and had them laminated so that they could also be used as bookmarks!

If you are interested in joining the In Color Club, send me an email and I will forward you more information.

Hubby's Birthday Card

Hi Stampers!

Happy Friday!  I hope you have a stamping filled weekend ahead of you.  Today I'm going to show you a card that I made my husband for his birthday.  The stamp set used is a retired one, but my husband loves sea turtles and it reminds me so much of our Hawaiian Honeymoon so I had to use it again.

I used the Designer Typeset stamp set to add a little speech bubble.  We all know that turtles speak surfer dude language!

Stampin' Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Coastal Cabana, Gumball Green
Designer Series Paper: Print Poetry Stack (retired)
Stamps: Designer Typeset, Summer Splash (retired)
Ink: Gumball Green, Coastal Cabana
Other:  Brights Designer Buttons, 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon in Gumball Green

Since I have been doing so much traveling lately, I thought I would share some photos every week with everyone.

Back in April my husband and I went with some of our good friends on a tour of Italy.  The first stop on the tour was Lake Como.  This was the view from our hotel window.

Our hotel was right on Piazza Cavour which had a really good gelato shop.  I made sure I tested it out before we left!

Best of Butterflies Card

Hi Stampers!

Today I have a card that I made when I was playing with the Best of Butterflies stamp set.  Don't you just love this image from the set?  I like that it is so natural looking and not a cartoony looking butterfly.    I began by just repeatedly stamping the image in Sahara Sand, but then thought it needed some dimension to it. So I embossed the butterfly on Primrose Petals card stock, cut it out, and popped it up on some Dimensionals.

Stampin' Supplies:
Cardstock: Primrose Petals, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Print Poetry (retired)
Stamps: Best of Butterflies
Ink: Sahara Sand, Versamark
Other: Pewter Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Paper Snips, Dimensionals

Quatrefancy Thank You

Hi Stampers!
I'm back!  Things are calming down for me now and I can finally get back to stamping and blogging!  YAY!

Today I'm going to share a project that I made around the time of the new annual catalog release.  I have several customers who are not local and I have to mail out their catalogs to them.  I thought a fun little thank you card would be a great surprise to add to the envie containing their catalog.

I used the notecards and envelopes found in the annual catalog.  I love these cards.  They are great for making my thank your.  They are slightly smaller than an A2 card - 5" x 3-1/2".  You get 20 in a pack + envelopes.  This is a great option when you need to mass produce a card and you do not mind the card base being in Whisper White.  I always make sure to add lots of color to brighten them up!

Here's a peek at the whole pile I made!  The Quatrefancy Designer Series Paper is so bright and cheery!

Stampin' Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Strawberry Slush, Whisper White Notecards
Designer Series Paper: Quatrefancy
Ink: Pool Party, Strawberry Slush, Island Indigo
Stamps: Mosaic Madness, Really Good Greetings
Punches: Mosaic

Quick Update!

Hi Stampers!

This is just a quick note to let you all know that I will be getting back into the blogging groove very soon!  I have tons of projects to share with you.  The last few months have been very hectic for me....many weekends away traveling abroad as well as in our own beautiful country. (I'm spoiled, I know.)  This has left me very little free time to stamp and blog.  I had to spend the little time I had preparing projects for my upcoming classes.  Now that things are settling down a bit, I have been working on all kinds of projects featuring products from the new catalog!  I am also very behind on my Paper Pumpkin posts, for which I am very sorry to my subscribers.  Don't worry!  I am in the process of working on some Paper Pumpkin Posts! (Try saying that three times fast!)

I have updated the Promotions page and the Best of 25 Years pages.  (See those tabs at the top?  I've tucked away some great info for you there!)  Check out the fantastic special going on this month for Designer Series Paper!  Buy 3, get 1 free!  The new catalog is CHOCK FULL of GORGEOUS DSP!!!  There is also a new Photopolymer stamp set - Settin' Sail - which would be great for cards for little boys, boat owners, or anyone who loves sailing!  Also, continuing on with the 25th Anniversary Celebration, SU has released another Best of 25 stamp set - Best of Shelli.  It features our favorite stamps from the last 25 years that are from the Shelli Signature collection....images that are near and dear to the heart of the Stampin' Up! CEO, Shelli Gardner.

I'm hoping all of these new items will tide you over until I put up my next blog post.  If you are in need of a copy of the annual catalog, please send me an email and I'll get one out to you right away!

Enjoy the holiday weekend!
Sarah
